GIVING BACK

Who We Are

There are many more important things in life other than being successful in warehouse solutions industry. In the spirit of our values, Specialized Storage Solution gives a percentage of its profit each year to local and international 501(c)3 non-profit charities. Some of the great organizations we partner with include

Since 1966, Athletes in Action (AIA) has been using sports as a platform to help people answer questions of faith and to point them to Jesus. Sports has the power to open doors and create connections in a way that few other things can, and that’s why AIA is constantly working to create new ways of reaching out to athletes and sports fans alike. The ultimate goal is to see peoples’ lives changed as they discover God’s purpose for their life.

We dream of a day when there are Christ-followers on every team, in sport, in every nation. We believe this is possible when organizations and individuals — who want every athlete to know someone who truly follows Jesus — work together toward the common goal of furthering God’s kingdom. Athletes in Action is a part of Cru (formerly called Campus Crusade for Christ). Cru is the name of CCC in the United States.

Where would you be today if nobody believed in you? Legendary coach Jim Valvano once said, “My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person … he believed in me.” Most of the kids we help at Street2Street grow up without anyone to give them that kind of encouragement. Yet we believe they can rise above their circumstances to make a positive impact on their world.

That’s why Street2Street exists to help at-risk kids Play, Belong, and Matter through sports events, mentoring, and personal development. We create leaders who become champions in the game of life.

Street2Street is working toward the goal, by the year 2020, of impacting 20,000 at-risk kids in 20 urban communities in the United States.

Who We Are

Street2Street is the culmination of a vision rising from the ashes of September 11, 2001. Woody Woodfin and his wife Renee first traveled to New York City shortly after the terrorist attacks to help teenagers impacted by the tragedy as part of the CRU Student Venture high school outreach. What they encountered was at-risk kids whose despair began long before 9-11.

The inaugural Street 2 Street tournament held in Brooklyn in August 2005 attracted over 150 teens. Every participant enjoyed a rare moment of recognition as a champion on the court. Fueled by passionate kids, dedicated volunteers, and generous donors, Street2Street is now expanding into other urban communities across the United States. Hoving Home

The Hoving Home is a nonprofit, residential faith-based program serving women ages 18 and over who have been involved in drug addiction, alcoholism, prostitution, crime, and other life-controlling problems. The twelve-month program is geared toward rebuilding broken lives in an atmosphere of warmth, trust, support, and love.  The Hoving Home meets the basic needs of these troubled young women by providing a warm bed and three nutritious meals a day for the full length of the program. In addition, Hoving Home also provides:

  • Classroom study and instruction in an on-campus, faith-based Learning Center
  • A structured daily work program
  • Various healthy extra-curricular activities, such as pottery class, art therapy, and group walks throughout the week.

Over the Home’s 50-year history, a program has been developed which aims to completely transform the lives of the women who arrive there from many different walks of life – many directly from prison or off the street. Its primary vehicle for long-term recovery is the Learning Center’s curriculum, comprised of courses designed to help each student acquire a knowledge of life-changing principles. They also offer Anger Management and Parenting classes.

The Hoving Home operates four facilities, located in:

  • Garrison, New York (founded in 1967) – Houses up to 75 women  (845) 424-3674
  • Pasadena, California (since 1984) – Houses up to 52 women  (626) 405-0950
  • Las Vegas, Nevada (since 2006) – Houses 10 women (702) 386- 1966
  • Oxford, New Jersey (since 2017) – Houses up to 30 women    (908) 651-5846

The Hoving Home is widely recognized as an effective residential-care facility and receives referrals from many sources including courts, judges, parole officers, probation departments, police, detoxes, and churches.  The Hoving Home received a five-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator.

The purpose of the program is to help women become free from addictions and other life-controlling issues. The Home offers a faith-based discipleship program as an alternative to traditional rehabilitation programs.  During the course of the program, a student has the opportunity to grow spiritually, develop emotional balance, and become physically healthy and socially active in all aspects of society.  The educational foundation and renewal available through the Learning Center prepares each woman for successful reintegration into society, along with working in a communal living setting and assuming increased responsibilities and privileges. After graduating from the required 12-level study program, women can elect to continue to live at the home for six months to a year for ongoing skills training while also working or attending college.
